The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced the interdiction of Adams Mahama Issahaku, headmaster of Piina Senior High School (SHS) in the Upper West Region, following a directive from the Director-General of the Service.
The action is in connection with an ongoing investigation into allegation of food items found in Mr Issahaku’s official pick-up vehicle on its way from Piina SHS to Wa on Thursday.
A letter signed by Razak Z. Abdul-Korah, Upper West Regional Director of the GES, sighted by the Ghanaian Time, indicated that the interdiction was a procedural measure and did not amount to a presumption of guilt.
The GES has meanwhile assured all stakeholders that the investigation would be thorough, and Mr Issahaku would be notified of the findings and any subsequent decisions.
Mr Issahaku has been instructed to hand over the administration of the school and all associated property to the Upper West Regional Director of Education.
The headmaster has also been urged to cooperate fully with the investigation by making himself available anytime he would be needed, and asked to avoid any actions that might compromise the process.
The GES has assured the public of its commitment to upholding transparency and accountability in the education sector.
The GES appealed to Mr Issahaku and all relevant parties in the case to adhere to all the directives in order to facilitate the investigation.
