Bibiani Gold Stars FC maintained their unbeaten run in the ongoing Ghana Premier League (GPL), beating Accra Hearts of Oak 1-0 in their match day eight game played at the University of Ghana Stadium, yesterday.
Striker Samuel Attah Kusi got the lone goal of the game on the 70th-minute to keep his side on top of the league log with 18 points.
After a goalless first half where chances were even for both sides, it was substitute, Michael Nkoah who did the magic for Gold Stars after joining the action on 57 minutes.
His inclusion added bite to their attacking play as the Phobians had a torrid time containing him on the flanks.
In one of his forays, he went past Emmanuel Amankwah to lay a pass to Samuel Attah Kusi who shot past goalkeeper Benjamin Assre for the lone goal.
Hearts chased the equaliser and were awarded a penalty after Asamoah Boateng was brought down in the box, however, Hamza Issah missed on the 75th-minute mark.
On the 90th-minute the visitors came close to doubling the lead but Hearts goalkeeper, Asare, saved the situation.
At the Crosby Awuah Memorial Stadium in Nzema Anyinase, Kumasi Asante Kotoko survived a late rally from Basake Holy Stars to draw 1-1 in their match day eight clash.
Hitman Albert Amoah fired the Porcupine Warriors ahead in the 36th minute.
Back from the break, the hosts went all out to put pressure on Kotoko who defended gallantly.
The defence succumbed to the pressure in the 81st minute, when S. Tenedu pulled the vital equaliser.
The game then moved from one end to the other as both sides searched for the winner but failed to score.
Kotoko will travel south to face Legon Cities in a midweek outstanding match at the University of Ghana Stadium on Wednesday.
