Demand your locked-up funds …Mahama urges victims of DKM Microfinance collapse

Former President John Dramani Ma­hama, the flagbearer of the NDC has asked victims of the DKM Microfinance collapse to demand their locked-up funds.

At separate community engage­ments in the Nkroranza North Constituency on Monday, day one of his campaign tour of the Bono East Region, the former President told residents at Dromankese and Nkrankah that the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has an idea of persons who mastermind­ed the financial fraud on them.

The former President based his argument on an alleged recent en­gagement between Vice President Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP and owner of the company who Mr Mahama said is neck deep in his campaign.

He said allegations that he and his wife, Lordina were connected to the owner have turned out to be false.

”In 2016, during my presidency, the NPP MPs and party leader­ship falsely accused my wife Lor­dina and me of being associated with the leader of DKM Microfi­nance, which defrauded investors of their money.

“I was unfairly maligned with false claims of owning the defunct microfinance company, DKM, but it’s now clear that the actual owner is a major financier of Dr Bawumia’s campaign.

“Recently, Vice President Bawumia was seen with the same individual funding his campaign as a crony of the NPP. I urge you to remember that while lies may spread quickly, truth ultimately prevails. When Bawumia visits, demand answers from him about his involvement and the fate of your investments,” Mahama urged.

The illegal operation of the de­funct financial institution and its subsequently closure in 2015 left thousands of customers without their investments.

Those investments, Mr Maha­ma said are being used to support the campaign of Dr Bawumia.

On roads, the NDC flagbearer lashed out at the ruling govern­ment over what he describes as discriminatory cancellation of road contracts the NDC signed and had commenced in 2016.

Addressing a community gath­ering at Amoma in the Kintampo South on Tuesday, John Mahama pledged that his next adminis­tration would continue with all projects he would inherit when voted into office.

He said the NDC, as it is known, remain committed to the infrastructural development of the country and would invest heavily in that sector.

He called for unity within the rank and file of the party to secure a resounding victory at the polls.
