Ghanaian boxing legend, Azumah Nelson, ended the maiden edition of his Zoom Zoom Clinics, a juvenile boxing and mentorship programme, on Friday at the Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School (PRESEC) in Accra.
The programme, which had been running for the past two months, made stops at Tamale, Kumasi and Takoradi where young talents between 12-18 were engaged and taught valuable lessons by the boxing Hall of Famer.
Participants included students and teachers from various Senior High Schools in Accra namely, Accra Girls, West Africa, and Labone.
Speaking after the event, Azumah shared some principles for success including time management, honesty and respect, good preparation and discipline, avoiding drugs and hard work.
The event also featured a quiz on Azumah’s career, with Nestor Kabutey, a second-year science student emerging the winner.
PRESEC’s Assistant Headmaster of Administration, Prince Sackey Agortey, expressed appreciation to organisers for hosting the session, adding that management was considering a similar initiative to inspire students.
