Adenta XI secured qualification to the round of 16 of the ongoing 2024 McDan Peace and Unity tournament, beating East Legon 3-0 at the Teshie McDan Sports Complex over the weakened.
It was Adenta who had the first shot on target in the 25th minute but Samuel Kutsugah’s strike from behind the centre circle but was too weak to cause any havoc.
East Legon showed glimpses of brilliance midway through the half but could not create any scoring chances.
Adenta came back in the second half with an improved performance and broke the deadlock in the 61st minute through Kutsugah.
Eight minutes later, substitute Derek Akpene doubled the lead for Adenta, tapping home from close range, before putting the icing on the cake 10 minutes from the end to take the tally to three.
The victory will see Adenta face Nungua at the Teshie McDan Sports Complex on August 10.
In the other weekend game played at the McDan La Town Park, Achimota defeated Ngleshie-Amanfro 3-0 with a hat-trick from Kwasi Ankomah on the 29th, 75th, and 81st minutes of the game to earn the Man-of-the-Match award.
Achimota will now face La on Saturday, September 7th, at the McDan La Town Park.
