Ghacem Foundation gives 700,000 bags to support education, health

The Ghacem Foundation as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)  has distributed a total of 13,840 bags of cement to some institutions in the Eastern Region.

The donation to health and educational Institutions which was carried out on May 20, 2024 in Koforidua was to commence the 2023/2024 edition of the Foundation’s annual cement donation.

The Ghacem Cement Foundation (GCF) was set up in 2002 by Ghacem Ghana Limited to assist in the infrastructural development of health and educational institutions in deprived communities of the country.

Since its inception, the Foundation distributed a total of 700,000 bags of cement valued at Ghc54 million to some deprived communities across the country.

According to the Foundation, the Northern Sector would also receive their allocation of 9,850 bags of cement next month at a similar event in Sunyani.

Speaking at the Southern sector ceremony, the Commercial Director of Ghacem, Mr. Kwasi Kyere said Ghacem as a company that understood the  impact of building strong and resilient communities had  for over 57 year not been  just a leader in the cement industry producing quality cement but had  also strived hard to be a pillar of support and growth in Ghana through its flagship CSR  programmem the Ghacem Cement Foundation  geared towards fostering development and enhancing lives across the nation.

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, Chairman of the foundation in his address bemoaned the dilapidated nature of some schools and hospitals in deprived communities of the country which informed the birth of the Ghacem Cement Foundation.

Since 2002, he said more than 700,000 bags of cement had been given freely to support the construction of schools and hospitals.

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI, said the Foundation was supporting the construction of a cancer unit for kids at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

“The project has begun and it is progressing well. We are going to help them till the completion of the entire project,” he stated.

Ehunabobrim Prah Agyensaim VI implored the beneficiaries, past and present to use the Ghacem cement products for its intended purpose.

On her part, Professor Audrey Gadzekpo, a Council member for the Ghacem Foundation said the Council got joy to support projects initiated by communities themselves.

“We are even more proud to have witnessed that education and health which are two key sectors of the economy have benefitted immensely from this benevolence from Ghacem and as Council members we will continue to support and educate the public on the correct criteria for application and hope they in turn use the cement for the intended purpose when their application is honoured”.
