President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo yesterday led the bigwigs and grassroots supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to canvass for votes for the party’s candidate in tomorrow’s by-election at the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency.
Representing the ruling NPP in tomorrow’s by-election is Lydia Seyram Alhassan, widow of the former Member of Parliament of the constituency, Mr Emmanuel Kyeremateng Agyarko, who passed away two months ago.
Present at the campaign were the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, Chief of Staff, Akosua Frema Osei Opare , top government officials, executive members of the NPP, among others.
They took turns to address a mini rally held at the La Bawleshie Presbyterian Basic School Park to wind up the party’s campaign ahead of the election.
President Akufo-Addo, addressing the rally, urged the constituents to vote massively for the party’s candidate to enable her continue the good work her husband started.
He said although Ms Alhassan was still mourning her husband’s death, she had demonstrated immense love for her country and the constituency by sacrificing herself to represent the constituency in Parliament.
President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in Ms Alhassan and urged the constituents to vote massively for her to represent them in the legislature.
He said the government had, so far, fulfilled 41 of the promises it made to Ghanaians and reiterated the commitment to fulfill all the promises by the end of the four-year mandate.
Ms Alhassan, on her part, promised to work diligently and facilitate development in all parts of the constituency when given the opportunity.
She expressed the commitment to continue the good work her husband started and promised not to let the constituents down.
