President John Dramani Mahama has called for peace in the Middle East, urging world leaders to embrace dialogue and bring an end to ongoing hostilities in the region.
Delivering a solemn message during the Eid-ul-Fitr prayers at the Independence Square, the President appealed for collective prayers for victims of the conflict, including bereaved families, the injured, and those facing hardship.
“Let us pray for peace in the Middle East… and for wisdom to the leaders of the countries that are fighting to choose dialogue over war,” he stated.
Grounding his appeal in Islamic teachings, President Mahama cited the Holy Quran’s message on the sanctity of life, noting that saving one life is as if saving all humanity, and stressing the need for global actors to uphold this principle.
He further called on key international figures—including Donald Trump, Benjamin Netanyahu and Ali Mojtaba Khamenei—to allow compassion and wisdom to guide efforts toward ending the conflict.
The President reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to the principles of peace, justice and respect for international law, indicating that the country would continue to support calls for peaceful resolution of conflicts across the globe.
Beyond the international focus, President Mahama urged Muslims to extend kindness and support to the poor and vulnerable, emphasising that Eid should be marked not only by celebration but also by generosity and solidarity.
He also called for prayers for Ghana’s peace, unity and stability, seeking divine guidance for national leadership and prosperity for the country.
Eid-ul-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting, and is observed with prayers, charity and reflection among Muslims worldwide.
