Mr Ernest Brogya Genfi, the Deputy Defence Minister, has announced a GH¢150,000 relief package for each of the six families who lost loved ones in the El-Wak Stadium stampede recently.
The occasion was when Mr. Brogya Genfi met with the families at the National Square, during which he announced the support measures.
The package includes GH¢50,000 for funeral expenses and GH¢100,000 as compensation.
He pledged that senior government officials would stand with the families and prioritised opportunities for siblings of the deceased in the ongoing recruitment process.
The Deputy Defence Minister disclosed that the Ministry of Defence is collaborating with the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to provide additional support, including psychosocial assistance and welfare programmes.
He indicated that President John Dramani Mahama has also expressed condolences and pledged government support for the affected families.
