President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and 2nd Vice President of CAF, Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, has been appointed to an 11-member Ministerial Oversight Committee established to guide Ghana’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The committee, constituted by the Presidency, is mandated to provide strategic leadership and ensure seamless inter-ministerial collaboration as the Black Stars gear up for their fifth appearance on football’s grandest stage.
Beyond on-field performance, the committee’s responsibilities span the full breadth of opportunities the World Cup presents, technical, diplomatic, economic and cultural. Its formation underscores Ghana’s ambition to derive maximum national benefit from the global event.
The Oversight Committee will supervise the work of the already inaugurated Technical Working Group, receive periodic reports on progress, and spearhead major initiatives including resource mobilisation, investment and sponsorship partnerships, fan engagement programmes, and the international projection of Ghana’s image.
With the 2026 World Cup fast approaching, this high-level body signals a renewed and coordinated national commitment to ensuring meticulous planning, strong preparation and a successful campaign both on and off the pitch.
