Ten suspects have been arrested following a brazen armed robbery and abduction in Kendeu, Wa West District. The attack, which targeted road users and market women travelling along the area, occurred on Sunday, November 23, 2025, at around 2:00 p.m.
A combined team of Police and Military personnel was immediately deployed to the scene, leading to the apprehension of the suspects while others managed to flee. Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects had earlier abducted two victims, identified as John Gaan and Dari Moses Dondomor, who, along with their belongings, are yet to be found.
In a statement issued by the Upper West Regional Police Command, the authorities said:
“The arrested suspects remain in custody, and all recovered exhibits—including five locally manufactured firearms, twenty-five AA live cartridges, two spent cartridges, two knives, and several spiritual talismans have been retained.
Integrated patrols continue to provide deterrence and reassurance in the area. Engagement with community leaders and relevant stakeholders is ongoing to support the search for the missing victims and de-escalate tensions.
The professionalism and swift response of officers, as well as collaboration from sister security agencies and local leaders, have contributed significantly to maintaining calm and stability.
The public is assured of our continued commitment to protecting life and property and is encouraged to provide credible information to aid investigations.”
Police are working closely with complainants to support ongoing investigations and ensure the safe recovery of the missing victims.
