
The Ashanti Regional Police Command has announced the successful conviction and sentencing of three armed robbery suspects for their involvement in a robbery incident that occurred at Boubai in the Asokore Mampong Municipality.
The suspects, Mamudu Issah, 18, Samuel Takyi, 18, and Alhassan Abubakari, 18, were sentenced to prison terms by the Atasemanso Circuit Court in Kumasi.
The court sentenced Mamudu Issah to a 10 year prison term on each of the robbery-related charges and 3 years for causing harm. The sentences will run concurrently.
Samuel Takyi and Alhassan Abubakari were jailed 10 years on each of the robbery-related charges.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Godwin Ahianyo, Head of Public Affairs in Ashanti Region, the robbery occurred on July 1, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. The suspects, armed with machetes and riding on two unregistered motorbikes, attacked and robbed residents of mobile phones, bags, and cash.
The three suspects were, however, apprehended by the timely intervention of community volunteers at their hideout at Aboabo later that same day.
The Regional Police Command expressed appreciation to members of the public, particularly the community volunteers for their swift response and cooperation in the operation and encouraged the public to support policing efforts and promptly report suspicious activities.
