In the face of rising urbanisation and growing waste management challenges in Ghana, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has stepped up with a bold initiative to transform sanitation services across the country.

The company has rolled out 100 out of 200 newly acquired waste management trucks, with the remaining 100 expected to arrive soon, in a move widely praised by local authorities and sanitation stakeholders.
The deployment of these modern waste trucks marks a significant step in Ghana’s ongoing effort to improve public sanitation and environmental health.
The fleet, which is being distributed across all 16 regions, is expected to significantly enhance the country’s waste collection efficiency, particularly in densely populated and underserved areas.

Speaking at the official unveiling of the trucks in the Eastern Region, the New Juaben South Municipal Sanitation Chairman, Enoch Boahene, who represented the Eastern Regional Minister, described the move as a game-changer for local assemblies battling mounting waste.
“Without Zoomlion’s timely intervention, Ghana would have been overwhelmed by waste. Their continuous haulage to centralised processing centres for recycling has saved us from a sanitation crisis,” he noted.

He cited the example of New Juaben, where waste was once visibly piling up in communities. “Thanks to the collaboration between Zoomlion and the assembly, we were able to clear the backlog and prevent sanitation-related issues from escalating,” he said.
Mr. Boahene further called on stakeholders including traditional leaders and private citizens—to support the company’s efforts, stressing that effective sanitation is a shared responsibility that directly affects public health and community development.
The fleet expansion initiative, spearheaded by Zoomlion’s subsidiary, 360 Waste Limited, represents a major investment in technology and logistics.
According to Mr. Emil Amoah, General Manager of 360 Waste Limited, the trucks are equipped with cutting-edge features to optimise waste collection in diverse settings, including flood-prone and remote areas.
“This fleet expansion reflects our unwavering commitment to protecting the environment, improving public health, and supporting sustainable urban growth,” Mr. Amoah said. “It’s not just about collecting waste, but ensuring timely, reliable, and community-oriented sanitation services.”
The introduction of these trucks is also expected to reduce the risk of sanitation-related diseases, enhance the cleanliness of towns and cities, and improve access to waste services nationwide. Each region will benefit from an equitable share of the trucks, empowering local assemblies to address their unique waste challenges more effectively.

Zoomlion’s efforts align closely with the national sanitation agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and Goal 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
The company’s ongoing partnerships with Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) underscore a collaborative approach to tackling Ghana’s sanitation woes.
“Our partnership with local authorities is built on a shared vision of delivering exceptional sanitation services to all Ghanaians,” Mr. Amoah added.
Beyond logistics, the deployment highlights Zoomlion’s broader commitment to sustainability. The company continues to prioritise environmentally friendly practices, cost-effective operations and long-term community impact.
