Bobby Banson, a lawyer with an interest in copyright matters, has advised persons in the creative arts industry to manage their reliance on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
Speaking during a discussion on how creatives can leverage AI to enhance productivity, Bobby told Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z that, inasmuch as the new technology will benefit the creatives in their work, they should desist from over-reliance on the tool.
“AI is supposed to complement your creatives. It is not supposed to be the mainstay of your work. So don’t rely on AI alone because the truth is that I hear the concept that technology has come to stay, but there is no technology that has remained stagnant; it moves. The person who thought the normal cameras would last forever now has to deal with mobile phones.
“So if your entire creative lifespan or industry depends on AI, we will wake up 5 years later, and AI will be overrun by another technology. What do you do? But no technology has developed the human brain in a way that is supposed to be,” he said.
Talking about how copyright laws apply to the use of AI, Bobby stated that plans are still ongoing the world over to have legislation that addresses AI and its place in Intellectual Property laws.
