Head coach of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team-the Black Stars- Otto Addo, has praised the quality in the Ghana Premier League as he prepares the National Team for the Unity Cup.
The 2025 Unity Cup takes place at the G-Tech Community Stadium in England with four nations set to compete from May 28 to May 31.
Ghana, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica have been drawn to compete in the tournament and four players from the Ghana League made the cut in Otto Addo’s squad.
Kwame Opoku of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Kamaridini Mamudu of Medeama SC, Benjamin Asare of Accra Hearts of Oak and Razak Simpson of Nations FC were named in the squad for the Unity Cup and Otto Addo believes that the level of quality in the GPL got the quartet into the squad.
“If you’ve watched our recent games, we’ve always had local players in our squad and also playing. I rate the league very high otherwise we wouldn’t have players in our squad which can compete on that level…and I’m looking forward to seeing them on that level.”
