
The Police in Walewale, located in the North East Region, have arrested two individuals for stealing a pistol and ammunition belonging to an Immigration officer.

According to a statement issued via the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Ghana Police Service and sighted by The Chronicle, the suspects, identified as18-year-old Mohammed Basit and 22-year-old Baba Rashid broke into the officer’s room while he was away.
The incident reportedly occurred around 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 17, 2025.
The suspects allegedly stole a Smith & Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, along with two CZ rifle magazines, each loaded with 30 rounds.
The Policesaid acting on intelligence they apprehended the suspects in Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale.
The stolen items were found hidden in a stationary vehicle. Investigations are ongoing and the suspects are expected to be arraigned before court soon.
