
Kwabre East Assembly members have confirmed Mr. Joseph Amankwah, the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive, to spearhead development efforts in the Kwabre East Municipality.
Mr. Joseph Amankwah secured the mandate of all 44 Assembly Members present and thus got confirmed with a 100% endorsement at the Assembly Hall of Our Lady of Grace Senior High School at Mamponteng last Friday.
Barambah Saale Ayeboafo II, the Chief of Mamponteng, who graced the occasion, described the overwhelming 100% votes for the MCE as unprecedented in the history of the Assembly’s elections.
According to him, the votes for the MCE demonstrate the unity in diversity among the political parties towards the total development of the Municipality.
He disclosed that the process demonstrates that the people of Kwabre East are behind the president’s nominee and urged him to cooperate with all the political parties especially the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) by fostering unity and togetherness for development and the progress of the Municipality.
Mr. Akwasi Gyamfi Onyina Acheampong, Member of Parliament for Kwabre East Constituency commended the Members of the Assembly for the overwhelming endorsement of the president nominee.
According to him, the people of Kwabre East are one, irrespective of their political affiliation and must focus on the development of the Constituency.
The new MCE also commended the Assembly Members, Nananom and all stakeholders who contributed immensely for his endorsement and assured them of his readiness to operate open door administration, irrespective of one’s political dispensation for the development of the Municipality.
He expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for the opportunity to serve in his government, which he described as a stepping stone for him to contribute to the resetting agenda of the NDC.
He stated that the Assembly Members demonstrated a smooth and successful democratic process and commended the unity and forward-thinking approach that the Members displayed.
Mr. Amankwah expressed the view that the journey ahead demands unity, accountability and innovation and believes that together, they will revitalise local governance in line with the resetting agenda of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.
