He noted that the endeavours of Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II in the fight against galamsey has been noticed on television and social media and aligns with their “mission” as an organisation, hence the recognition.
The CCfESA founder described the Queen mother as “A Shining Beacon of Hope and Transformation, whose tireless efforts and unwavering dedication have inspired a new wave of change-makers”.
Mr. Owusu Appiah urged government officials to enforce “sanitation by-laws” to preserve our water bodies, forest, lands and ecosystem, further advising Nananom to take steps in fighting galamsey in their respective communities.
Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II thanked CCfESA for recognizsing and acknowledging her efforts in the fight against galamsey.
Nana Bruwaa debunked rumours of complicity in galamsey activities in the enclave stating that her sole responsibility as a Queenmother is to serve and protect her subjects as well as stool lands entrusted in her care, stressing that these false allegations would not deter her, but rather encourage her to do more in her fight against the menace, which is destroying our lands, environment, ecosystems and ultimately lives.
She stated that if she had excavators for galamsey, as her critics claimed, she would rather use them for reclamation of lands destroyed by “galamseyers” in her enclave.

Meanwhile, the Institute of Nature and Environmental Conservation (INEC), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) that aims to conserve all biodiversity (plants and animals) that face critical threats from human activities has joined forces with Nana Serwaa Bruwaa II to protect endangered plant and animal species as well as the environment.
Mr. Sylvester Agyei-Boachie Yiadom, Finance and Project Director, INEC, disclosed that human activities has caused changes in our climate, that notwithstanding, human beings must eke out a living whilst putting in place measures, such as planting of trees, to protect our ecosystem and natural environment.
The Director described the tree planting by Nana Bruwaa as a “laudable initiative” feat, for which reason they decided to partner her in the quest to protect our natural environment.
The collaboration, Mr. Agyei-Boachie stressed, will be in the form of consultation or a partnership to protect our ecosystem.
Nana Bruwaa thanked the management of INEC for the recognition and coming to her aid to realise her vision of protecting the environment.
The Queenmother revealed that she had a vision to plant trees to protect our environment for the future generation, following her realisation that the stool lands are being destroyed by the youth.
It is due to the threat of “deforestation without afforestation” that she has vigorously embarked on and urged Ghanaians to plant trees, a practice she disclosed enriches the soil and provides a warmer climate.
