A former member of the Osun State House of Assembly, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has urged President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the ongoing fuel scarcity in the country with a view to ending it.
He added that Nigerians are already going through a lot of hardship than to combine queuing at filing stations daily to buy fuel, saying the situation demand the attention of the President.
In a statement he personally signed on Sunday in Osogbo, the All Progressives Congress, APC chieftain said the President Tinubu needs to come to terms with suffering Nigerians were facing on nearly, monthly basis due to fuel scarcity
While disclosing that Nigerians had hoped scarcity of fuel had ended after subsidy on the product was removed by the Federal Government, Oyintiloye, noted that rather than for the situation to be improved, fuel situation had become worse off, with Nigerians passing through untold hardship to get the product at a very high price.
He appealed to the president to beam a searchlight into the activities of Nigerian Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) in order to unravel the root cause of the persistent fuel scarcity.
“In recent months, Nigerians have been having it tough getting petroleum products at filling stations across the country. I want to appeal with the president to come to the rescue of Nigerians who are passing through untold hardship due to fuel scarcity. It is now becoming a normal routine of daily lives in Nigeria unfortunately.
“For the past few weeks now, Nigerians have been sleeping in filing stations across the country in a bid to get fuel for their businesses and vehicles. While many of the filing stations do not have the product, those who have it are selling at very exorbitant prices
“Nigerians are passing through a lot and that is why the president will have to intervene and put an end to the severe hardship people are passing through”, he said
The former lawmaker further disclosed that if the four Nigerian refineries could be revamped, fuel scarcity would be a thing of the past, saying the burden on the shoulders of the masses were becoming unbearable, hence the need for the president’s urgent intervention.
