The Ashanti Regional Council of Elders of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has brokered peace at the Offinso North constituency of the party following a marathon meeting, Mr. Victor Owusu Jr., Secretary of the Council has confirmed.
The Council has, therefore, declared a ceasefire after it provided conducive atmosphere for every member present to air their concerns and grievances in an open discussion.
Members of the Council took turns to admonish all constituency party leaders and supporters to embrace peace towards peaceful coexistence ahead of the presidential and parliamentary elections.
Dr. Moussa Jabir Kebir, the vice chairman of the Council of Elders, advised all parties to accept peace because it is fair.
The chairperson of the Council of Elders, Mrs. Rosemond Appiah-Menka, expressed satisfaction at the resolution of the conflict in the Offinso North constituency, which had caused her sleepless nights.
She called on party members to avoid stoking and ensure that peace and unity prevail among them to ensure a resounding victory for Dr. Mahammudu Bawumia.
Mrs. Appiah-Menka thanked the parties, party executives and members of the Council of Elders who contributed to the successful resolution of the conflict in the Offinso North constituency.
At the peace talks were Dr. Fred Kyei, the Parliamentary candidate; Mr. Johnson Modma, constituency chairman; Mr. Richard Boateng, constituency Secretary; Dr. Albert Sefa Boampong, the District Chief Executive; Adwoa Asantewaa, Deputy Women’s Organiser; members of the constituency Council of Elders; Electoral Area Coordinators and constituency executive members.
