

Mary Quaye, the suspect
A married woman, Mary Quaye has been arrested by the Agona Duakwa Police in the Central Region for inflicting cutlass wounds on her husband following an altercation that ensued between the two.
Information available to The Chronicle had it that the victim, Abraham Acquah and the wife, who is now a suspect, had a quarrel in the early hours of Monday, April 26, 2021.
According to checks conducted by the paper, the husband, in the ensuing confrontation, attacked the wife and hit her with a stick.
In a sharp reprisal, Madam Mary Quaye was also said to have launched a counter attack with a sharp cutlass with which she used to cut the husband’s neck, left jaw and his shoulder.
In a brief statement to the media, the Central Regional Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Serwaa Oppong explained that the Duakwa police received a distress call at about 4:00 am.
“Police proceeded to Agona Swedru Government Hospital and met victim Abraham Acquah, aged 30, at the hospital’s Emergency Ward with multiple deep cuts on his left jaw, neck and shoulder, responding to treatment”, she said.
Meanwhile, complainant Mary Quaye, a.k.a. Obaa Yaa, has been arrested, detained and is assisting Police with investigation.
The Central Region, in recent times, has become noted for spousal killings as this very incident adds to a couple more that have already occurred in the region.
