Bishop Amoah flanked by colleague Bishops after his enthronement
A Bishop Co-adjutor, Rt. Rev. Oscar Christian Amoah, has been enthroned as the fourth Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kumasi.
He replaces the Most Reverend Prof. Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, the immediate Archbishop of the Anglican Diocese of Kumasi and the immediate past Archbishop Primate of the Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA), who retired last year after 42 years of service.
At his enthronement which was duly mandated by the Church of the Province of West Africa (CPWA) at the Saint Cyprian Cathedral in Kumasi last Sunday, Rt. Rev. Amoah pledged to be a faithful shepherd and servant of the flock.
He promised to observe the statutes and customs of the church, and ensure that they are observed by others, thereby increasing their welfare and honour of the church, and further pledged to be obedient in all things lawful.
The newly-installed Bishop of the Province of Kumasi also swore his allegiance to the Archbishop of the CPWA, and promised to respect, maintain, and defend the rights and liberties in truth and justice.
The Bishop further thanked all and sundry who made it possible for him to lead the Diocese, and promised to take the Diocese to another level of growth and development, but with the support of the general congregation.
Rt. Rev. Bishop Amoah disclosed that he would outline his vision for the church at a Thanksgiving Service slated for March 21, this year.
The clergy, laity, officials and wardens took turns to pledge their allegiance to the new church leader.
Rt. Rev. Oscar Christian Amoah is an author and former Principal of the Sefwi Wiawso College of Education.
Published books by the Bishop include ‘There is no limit to what God can do in your life,’ ‘Why you should pray for your priest or pastor,’ ‘My story as told by Queen Esther,’ ‘My story as told by Amnon,’ ‘Praying Partners,’ and ‘A sleeping Church in a Struggling Nation.’
In attendance at the enthronement of the new Anglican Bishop was the Apagyahene of Kumasi, Oheneba Owusu Afriyie IV, Dr. Kwame Addo Kufuor, former Minister of Defence, and Mr. Osei Assibey Antwi, Mayor of Kumasi.
