The Volta Region Resource Group of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) has predicted that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will increase the party’s vote to a total of 25 percent votes in the 18 constituencies in the region to seal a resounding victory for a second term in office.
This is because all indications so far show that the people of the region are embracing the NPP more than ever before, the group indicated.
The group said that the NPP’s chances in the region continue to grow each day as the 2020 general elections draw closer, and that the party would not only increase its presidential votes in a National Democratic Congress (NDC) dominated region, but also history would be made, as the NPP would also capture some of the parliamentary seats that have been occupied by the NDC over the years.
Addressing a press conference in Ho, the Volta Regional Secretary of the NPP Resource Group, Mr. David Akpabli, said the Group, under the leadership of Mrs Agnes Okudzeto, had launched a campaign dubbed “All Hands on Deck” in the Volta Region, which, he said, was being carried out in all the 18 constituencies.
The campaign, which involves the education of people at social gatherings such as market centers, churches, funerals and identifiable organisations, is aimed at equipping the electorate with adequate and appropriate information that would make them realise and agree that the NPP has done better than the NDC, in terms of bringing the relevant development to them.
Mr. Akpabli disclosed that the campaign had exposed the electorates to the fact that Nana Akufo-Addo and former President Mahama, now NDC presidential candidate, cannot be compared, because while Nana Addo showed much commitment to bringing development to the people, Mr. Mahama and the NDC, over the past eight years, failed to do same and were only interested in the votes of the people of the Volta Region.
He said the misinformation that the political opponents told the people of the Volta Region – that the NPP has nothing to offer them – fortunately, was changing very fast, because the people had recognised that they had been deceived over the years, and that the level of development the NPP brought to them within the period of four years was beyond description.
Mr Akpabli noted that awareness created so far on the developmental works of the NPP has helped to change the perception of the people.
He said it became clearer to the people in the region that former president Mahama and the NDC’s inability to effectively manage the economy of the country led to the collapse of the economy during the Mahama and the NDC regimes.
He said as the people now appreciate the NPP’s developmental works in the region, and have already decided to vote massively for Nana Addo and the NPP in the 2020 general elections,
Mr. Akpabli further explained that the 25 percent increased votes predicted might even be more, in view of the strategic campaign teams the leadership of the NPP in the Volta Region had put in place.
He said he was counting on all Ghanaians to vote for Nana Addo and the NPP to retain power in the upcoming elections.
“It’s our firm belief that the good people of Ghana would vote, come December 7, 2020, for God’s own anointed President of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the performer and beacon of hope for Africa politics, to retain power again to take the Republic of Ghana to another level,” he asserted.
