I refer to the publication in The Chronicle newspaper, dated 13th December, 2016, and other social media platforms on my retirement from active politics. I wish to state, without any equivocation, that the source of the story and The Chronicle reporter in Upper West Region – Mr. Farouk Musah, has never interviewed me, and I have not had any interactions with him after 7 December, 2016 elections.
Ever since the election results were pronounced by the Electoral Commission (EC) till date, I have not spoken to or interacted with any journalists about my political career and social life. I have not considered taking such a decision as an astute politician, who has served about 34 years in the political activities of this country.
The story has no credibility, it is bogus and calculated attempt to undermine my good works rendered to the good people of my constituency, region, and the country at large. If I am going to retire from politics, I will personally do so using the appropriate medium.
Once again, I wish to take this opportunity to thank the electorates of my constituency and congratulate the winning candidate, Mr. Patrick Alhassan Adama.
Thank you,
Hon Amin Amidu Sulemani
Editor’s note: The reporter is the Minister’s nephew
