The new notes- GHC 100 and GHC 200- were announced by the Central Bank as the latest addition to the country’s legal tender mix.
Once the use of the notes has been sanctioned, it will be in circulation and that will mean that club owners will then use them to pay the wages of the players.
The value of the new notes also means that most Ghana Premier League players will be able to carry their salaries around.
The wages in the league are believed to be low with most players barely making a GHS 1,000 in monthly salaries.
Currently, most Premier League clubs in Ghana are playing friendlies to keep their players sharp ahead of the start of the new season.
The league has been on hold since June 2018 after the airing of the Anas “Number 12” documentary.
The current Ghana FA, headed by Kurt Okraku, has been meeting major stakeholders in the local game to plan and put things together for the start of the new football season.
