
Addressing members of the Board at the Jubilee House when they paid a courtesy call on him, Nana Akufo-Addo cautioned the body to pay sufficient attention to the domestic manufacturers of small arms.
He said: “The aspect of the management of small arms, we don’t appear to pay attention to. In the midst of manufacturing arms, there is the tendency to say all the arms proliferation in our country are smuggled in or brought in from across our borders but our own manufacturing facilities may not be sophisticated but they exist...”
“We don’t seem to have enough focus on the path we need to take to control the proliferation, the existence and the manner in which we work to produce locally made arms."
"It has to be part of your mandate, and, as part of your mandate, you can publicize and bring much attention to our society so that we can control those who engaged in this particular industry.”
