FC AshantiGold ’04 reclaimed top spot in the Zone Two league table after a hard-fought 3-2 victory over regional rivals New Edubiase United at the Bekwai Gyamfi Park in Obuasi on Sunday.
The Miners’ win takes them to 37 points from 18 matches, returning them to the summit of the standings.
The result saw Ebusua Dwarfs slip to second place after they were held to a goalless draw by Skyy FC at the St. Martins School Park. The stalemate ended Dwarfs’ five-match winning run and leaves them one point behind AshantiGold in a tightly contested promotion race.
Elsewhere, Sekondi Rospak SC continued their strong run of form with a convincing 3-0 home win over struggling Ebony FC at the Tarkwa and Aboso Stadium. Derrick Junior Asare opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Ruben Tetteh doubled the lead late on. Stephen Anthony Kofi sealed the result with a fine finish seven minutes later.
The victory extends Rospak’s unbeaten run to five matches and lifts them into third place on the table with 32 points, further tightening the competition at the top of Zone Two.
