Techiman Eleven Wonders head coach Emmanuel Aidoo has tempered his side's celebration after a crucial 2â0 victory over Basake Holy Stars, warning that significant work remains in their fight to avoid relegation.
The win, only the club's second of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season, lifts them to nine points and provides vital momentum at the start of the campaign's second round.
Speaking after the match, Aidoo welcomed the result but immediately shifted focus to the challenges ahead. "It feels great, but we still need to work more," the coach stated firmly.
"We are not going to get swollen-headed because of this win. There are more hurdles to clear. Of course, we are excited, but the work continues."
Aidoo dissected the match, acknowledging that his team had to withstand early pressure before seizing control. "The first half was for them, and they couldn't make use of their chances," he explained. "In the second half, we also took over. In football, you need to take your chances â that's all."
Despite the morale-boosting three points, the reality for the newly promoted side remains stark, as they still sit at the bottom of the 18-team league table. Coach Aidoo was clear about the team's singular objective for the remainder of the season. "We are on a rescue mission," he declared. "The slogan is oppression â we need to rescue. Everybody is aware of it. The mission is to escape relegation."
With the first round having concluded with Medeama SC at the summit, Eleven Wonders now hope this hard-fought victory can serve as the foundational spark for a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes as they continue their rescue operation in the second half of the season.
