Zulte Waregem will be without Ghana forward Joseph Opoku for the next four weeks due to injury, dealing a blow to the club’s attacking options.
Opoku, the club’s top creator in the Belgian top flight, has also contributed five goals and assists this season, highlighting his importance to Essevee.
The former Black Satellites forward has been pivotal since Zulte Waregem’s return to the top tier, consistently starting and influencing matches with his pace and creativity.
Zulte Waregem also face the absence of captain Anton Tanghe, who left the field injured last weekend against La Louvière. He is expected to return only after Christmas.
Tanghe has started every league match this season, providing defensive stability and leadership, making his absence alongside Opoku a significant setback for the team.
Zulte Waregem travel to Union SG on Saturday, aiming to strengthen their position in the race for a top-six finish despite the injuries.
Preparations have been challenging, and the squad will need strong performances from remaining starters to compensate for the losses.
