Former Ghana midfielder Bernard Mensah delivered a standout performance on Saturday as he played a pivotal role in Al Nasr’s impressive 2-0 victory over Al Ain in the UAE League Cup Semi-finals.
The former Atletico Madrid star, who joined the UAE outfit in August 2025 registered his name on the scoresheet for the side, solidifying his importance to the team in a crucial moment.
The visitors scored in either half of the pitch to secure victory over Al Ain at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium. Mensah broke the deadlock, just five minutes into the match after he was set up by Abdoulaye Touré.
In the 65th-minute mark, Argentine international Ramón Mierez found the net to seal victory. Despite the win, Al Nassr have bowed out of the Cup competition.
Before the second leg clash, Al Ain had thumped Al Nasr 3-0, ensuring their qualification to the finals over Mensah’s outfit.
The former Besiktas and Kayserispor star was subbed off in the 82nd minute, with Senegalese international Moussa N'Diaye taking up his place.
Mensah has made ten appearances across competitions for Al Nasr, scoring just a goal since his arrival in the summer. He penned a two-year deal with the club, with his contract expected to elapse in summer 2027.
He made his debut for the Black Stars in 2015, making four appearance and scoring one goal before announcing his retirement from international football.
