Hearts of Oak head coach Mas-Ud Didi Dramani hailed set pieces as the team’s 'trump card' after a narrow 1-0 win over Vision FC at the University of Ghana.
The solitary goal came in the 41st minute through Mawuli Wayo, who capitalized on a well-rehearsed set play.
The victory ended Hearts of Oak’s three-game winless run and moved them to 21 points from 12 matches, placing them sixth on the Ghana Premier League table.
Dramani emphasized the importance of set-piece training in modern football, highlighting how it can be decisive in tight contests.
“Our trump card is also working on the set pieces because the set-piece game has become very fundamental in the modern trends,” Dramani said.
“So when the game becomes so tight, you can rely on the set pieces to open up. I think that we should have scored even more than two from our set-piece play.”
Hearts of Oak have relied heavily on set pieces this season, converting multiple opportunities into goals.
Dramani’s focus on rehearsed routines has proved vital in breaking deadlocks and securing points, underscoring the strategic value of set plays in the team’s campaign.
