Basake Holy Stars coach Augustine Evans Adotey has relinquished his role following a string of poor results in the Ghana Premier League.
The Anyinase-based club has been unimpressive under the seasoned tactician, managing only one win, three draws and six defeats since the beginning of the season.
With six points from 10 games, Holy Stars find themselves in the relegation drop, leaving the club’s hierarchy and fans frustrated.
Amid the club’s sluggish start to the campaign, the former Medeama trainer has stepped down from his position. Adotey signed a three-year contract with Holy Stars, replacing Abdulai Gazale, who left in June to take up the assistant coach role at giants Hearts of Oak.
Despite his wealth of experience, Adotey struggled to grind results for Holy Stars, prompting his resignation from the club.
His assistant Johnson Smith is expected to take temporal charge of the team until a substantive gaffer is appointed.
The 60-year-old has had spells with several clubs and at the national level. He served as technical director at Medeama and worked as an assistant coach with the Black Queens, Ghana’s senior women’s national team.
The new coach will face the task of turning around the team’s fortunes as they strive to escape relegation at the end of the season.
