Ghanaian youngster Barnabas Tagoe has begun a trial with Swedish side IFK Varnamo as the Smaland-based club looks to strengthen its squad ahead of their 2026 Superettan campaign.
Varnamo, who were relegated from the Allsvenskan after finishing bottom of the 2025 standings, have already started assessing potential reinforcements as they prepare for an immediate return to the top flight.
According to GHANAsoccernet.com sources, the club is currently evaluating the 21-year-old winger from Malmo FF, with sporting director Jorgen Pettersson impressed by his profile.
"He is a left-footed winger who is fast and very technical," Pettersson told the newspaper Varnamo Nyheter confirming the trial.
Tagoe spent the 2025 season on loan at BK Olympic in Ettan Sodra, where he contributed two goals and one assist after 20 appearances.
His pace, directness, and ability to play on either flank have made him a prospect worth monitoring for several Swedish sides.
The trial presents an opportunity for the Ghanaian to secure regular playing time in the Swedish second-tier as he continues his development in Europe.
Varnamo are expected to make a decision on Tagoe’s future in the coming days as they continue building a competitive squad for the 2026 campaign.
