Italy-born Ghanaian-American forward Emmanuel Afriyie Mario Sabbi was on target for Vancouver Whitecaps in their thrilling penalty shoutout victory over Los Angeles FC.
The 27-year-old opened the scoring in a dramatic semi-final encounter, which saw Whitecaps end the game with nine men while Son Heung Min netted a stunning brace to force the match to penalties.
Sabbi lobbed the ball pass LAFC's goalkeeper Hugo Lloris in the 39th minute before Mathias Laborda doubled the advantage at the stroke of half time.
Son pulled one back on the hour mark after a scrappy defending from Vancouver before sending the game to extra time with a sensational freekick.
Just before extra time, Tristan Blackmon of Whitecaps was sent off got a second yellow card.
However, the Canadians held on and defeated the former champions 5-3 on penalties to reach the Western Conference final.
They will face the winner of the game between San Diego and Minnesota United in the final.
