Medeama were unable to extend their lead at the summit of the Ghana Premier League after being held to a goalless draw by Bechem United at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa on Saturday afternoon.
The Mauve and Yellow created the better chances but lacked the finishing touch to convert their dominance. The dropped points now leave the leaders vulnerable, with at least three teams capable of overtaking them depending on results elsewhere this weekend.
Head coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side now sit one point ahead of Heart of Lions and three clear of Asante Kotoko, whom they face in a crucial top-of-the-table encounter next weekend.
Bechem United kept their discipline throughout, neutralising the impact of Kelvin Nkrumah and Prince Owusu. Medeama nearly snatched victory late on when Augustine Okrah’s powerful strike rattled the lower part of the right post.
Bechem goalkeeper Benjamin Asiedu Kwesi was outstanding, producing several key saves with sharp reflexes. Salim Adams of Medeama earned the Most Valuable Player award for his tireless effort in midfield.
Medeama remain top on 22 points, while Bechem United sit 14th with 10 points.
