Kobbie Mainoo has been encouraged to leave Manchester United for Arsenal as uncertainty grows over his future at Old Trafford.
Former Gunners midfielder Stefan Schwarz believes a move to North London would unlock the player’s full potential.
Mainoo, born in England to Ghanaian parents, has struggled for consistent minutes under manager Ruben Amorim.
The 20-year-old has slipped down the midfield hierarchy, prompting speculation over a January move as Napoli and Chelsea monitor his situation.
Reports suggest Mainoo is growing frustrated after watching several former teammates leave United and flourish elsewhere.
Schwarz said Arsenal would offer the ideal environment for the midfielder’s development, pointing to the structure and leadership within Mikel Arteta’s squad.
He highlighted the influence of Declan Rice, saying, "Declan Rice is a very good player. I like him a lot. He's a good leader.
"He can play in different positions, he's versatile and so solid. You know what you get from him every week. His delivery is unbelievable, and he has a great work rate and ethic.
“He is one of the leaders at Arsenal. He rarely gets injured, and he's a good character. He looks out for and takes care of his team-mates. He is also very good when talking to the media, which is very important and is an understated skill.
“He’s so important to Arsenal. If he was to get injured it would be a huge setback, they could cope in the short term thanks to the size of the squad but losing him for a couple of games wouldn't be a problem."
Napoli, however, are believed to be frontrunners in the chase. Their success with former United players Rasmus Hojlund and Scott McTominay has strengthened the Italian club’s confidence as they consider a January bid.
