The Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has attributed Ghana’s recent sporting successes to strategic reforms and targeted investments in the sector.
Addressing the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards last Saturday, Adams highlighted the ministry’s decisive actions over the past two years to restructure and strengthen sports administrationâefforts that are now delivering tangible results.
“We made tough decisions, invested deliberately, and Ghana is now reaping the benefits,” he said.
The Buem Constituency MP cited several milestones as evidence of the country’s upward trajectory, including the Black Stars’ qualification for the FIFA World Cup, the resurgence of the Black Queens, and the University for Development Studies’ historic victory at the Universities World Cup in China.
“Our athletes are excelling across disciplines, and Ghana has firmly established itself as a credible force in both African and global sports,” he added.
Adams emphasized that these achievements stem from clear policy, rigorous preparation, and disciplined execution rather than chance. He called on all stakeholders to sustain the momentum and build on the current foundation.
“This performance is the result of policy, preparation, and disciplineânot luck,” he stressed. “We must continue to work consistently; success favors persistence.”
