Heart of Lions extended their remarkable home form with a solid 2-0 victory over Young Apostles at the Kpando Sports Stadium on Sunday afternoon, climbing further up the Ghana Premier League table after a composed and disciplined performance.
The hosts started brightly and were rewarded as early as the 12th minute when forward Michael Ephson broke the deadlock.
The in-form attacker reacted sharply inside the box, guiding home a well-worked team move to give Lions the perfect start and send the home crowd into early celebration.
The goal energised Bashiru Hayford's men, who maintained control of possession and dictated the tempo for most of the first half.
Apostles, despite their promising run of recent form, struggled to create clear openings against a well-organised Lions defence.
Their attempts to claw back into the game were met with strong resistance, with Lions’ midfield pressing effectively to break up their rhythm.
The decisive moment came in the 73rd minute when sustained pressure from the hosts forced an error, resulting in an unfortunate own goal that doubled Lions’ advantage.
That setback deflated the visitors, who found it difficult to mount any meaningful response in the closing stages.
Lions managed the remainder of the match with maturity, maintaining their defensive solidity to secure yet another home victory - their ninth straight at Kpando.
The win also extends their unbeaten run to four matches since their lone defeat of the season.
