Asante Kotoko’s unbeaten run faces a stern test on Sunday when they host league leaders Aduana FC at the Baba Yara Stadium in a crucial Ghana Premier League encounter.
Both teams have positioned themselves as early title contenders, setting the stage for a high-quality contest.
Kotoko enter the fixture as the only unbeaten side in the league this season. Abdul Karim Zito’s men are coming off a 1-0 victory over rivals Hearts of Oak in the Super Clash, followed by a hard-earned 0-0 draw with Vision FC in midweek.
That draw leaves them four points behind Aduana, although they still have two outstanding matches. Kotoko sit 7th on the table with 15 points from seven games and will be aiming for a win to close the gap on the leaders and protect their unbeaten start.
Defensively, Kotoko remain unmatched. They have conceded only two goals all season, both in their 4-2 win over Karela United, giving them the best defensive record in the league. Historically, Kotoko also enjoy an advantage at home, winning three of their last five meetings with Aduana in Kumasi.
Aduana FC arrive in confident form. The Fire Club held Medeama to a 0-0 draw in Dormaa last weekend, stretching their unbeaten run to five matches. They top the league with 19 points, having scored nine goals and conceded four, the joint second-best defensive record. With their current momentum and solid structure, stopping Aduana will require Kotoko at their sharpest.
