Ebenezer Kobia scored twice as Semper Fi earned a hard-fought 2-1 win over Great Olympics at the Tuba Astro Turf Park in the Access Bank Division One League on Saturday afternoon.
The result marked Semper Fi’s third consecutive victory in all competitions and their second straight in the league.
Kobia opened the scoring in the 38th minute, finishing off a well-worked team move before adding his second in the 71st minute to give Semper Fi a comfortable lead. Great Olympics, who have struggled this season, managed a late consolation through Samuel Boakye’s penalty in stoppage time.
The win lifts Semper Fi to second place in Zone Three, continuing their strong start under coach Moses Adjin-Tettey. Speaking before the match, Adjin-Tettey had expressed confidence in his team’s form and consistency. “We have a way we play, and no matter the opponent, we stay true to our style,” he said.
Olympics’ poor run continues, with the side yet to secure a win after six matches, leaving them deep in the relegation zone. Semper Fi will aim to build on their momentum when they host Home Stars in their next fixture on Sunday.
