Ghanaian defender Rockson Yeboah was sent off as IFK Goteborg battled to a hard-fought 0-0 draw against Djurgarden in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Sunday.
The 21-year-old, who started in defense for Goteborg, saw red in the 66th minute after receiving two yellow cards for reckless tackles within five minutes. His dismissal left Göteborg with ten men, forcing them to defend deep for the rest of the match.
Djurgarden dominated possession with 60% of the ball and created more chances, recording 18 shots compared to Goteborg’s 13. Despite their control, they couldn’t find a breakthrough, thanks to a disciplined defensive display from the visitors after Yeboah’s exit.
Yeboah had earlier come close to scoring when his shot from inside the box was blocked, moments before his first booking. His red card, however, shifted the momentum firmly in Djurgarden’s favor.
The draw leaves Goteborg relieved but frustrated, as they turn their focus to their next league game against IFK Norrkoping on November 9.
