Semper Fi coach Moses Adjin-Tettey has praised his players for their spirited display after the team’s commanding 3-0 win over New Town Youth in the preliminary round of the 2025/26 MTN FA Cup at the McDan Sports Complex in Teshie on Saturday.
Following a disappointing defeat to True Democracy in the Access Bank Division One League last weekend, Semper Fi bounced back in style, dominating the encounter from start to finish.
The team’s fluid passing, composure, and attacking intent kept their opponents under constant pressure, resulting in a well-deserved victory.
Speaking after the match, Coach Adjin-Tettey explained that the team’s overall performance was a reflection of their determination to respond positively after the league setback. He also addressed observations that his players appeared to lose rhythm during certain phases of the match.
"The players didn’t necessarily go off; it was just that some of the changes we made weren’t working," he said. "We had a couple of chances that we missed, and sometimes in football, when you don’t take your chances, the opponent gains a bit of confidence thinking they can punish you."
He added that tactical adjustments in the second half made the difference, as Semper Fi found their rhythm again and took control of the contest.
"We made tactical changes in the second half which produced the goals. It wasn’t that the players who went off were bad players," he clarified.
The result, which secures Semper Fi’s place in the next round of the competition, has lifted spirits within the camp.
