Cameron Antwi found the net as Newport County sealed a comfortable 3â0 victory over Harrogate Town in League Two on Saturday afternoon.
The English-Ghanaian midfielder scored Newport’s third goal in the 51st minute, calmly slotting a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner after a neat assist from Kai Whitmore. It was a moment that delighted Newport fans, as Antwi, who played the full 90 minutes, capped a solid performance with his first goal of the season.
Despite having the fewest touches (28) among outfield players who completed the match, Antwi made his presence count in key moments. Earlier goals from Courtney Baker-Richardson and an own goal by Harrogate’s Bobby Faulkner had already put Newport in control before Antwi’s finish sealed the result.
Harrogate dominated possession but struggled to turn their 62% control into real chances, while Newport proved far more clinical in front of goal.
The win lifts confidence in the Newport camp as they prepare for their upcoming FA Cup clash against Gillingham on November 1.
