Heart of Lions talisman Michael Ephson has opened up on the motivation behind his Man of the Match (MoTM) performance in the victory against Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League on Friday.
Ephson, who started the Week 7 league match for the hosts, starred with his performance on the matchday, scoring the team’s second goal in a 3-0 victory to end a three-game winless run.
Speaking after the game, the forward indicated that he was determined to make amends after missing a lot of chances in the last few matches.
“This particular game, it was personal. As we saw in our recent games, I missed a lot of chances. I really let my team down, so this game was personal for me. I had to redeem myself and make sure my team got the three points,” Michael Ephson said.
The attacker continued, “We thank God for our third win at home. By the Grace of God, we are at the top [of the league table] now. We will make sure we maintain the level. As we are going away in our next match, we will make sure we take the three points as well.”
Back at the top of the Ghana Premier League, although temporarily, Heart of Lions will be aiming to win upcoming games to step up their charge to win the title at the end of the season.
