Medeama SC will look to strengthen their position at the summit of the Ghana Premier League when they host Swedru All Blacks at the TNA Stadium on Sunday.
The former champions hold a slim one-point lead and will be determined to widen that gap in front of their home supporters.
The Mauve and Yellow endured a frustrating afternoon last weekend after being held to a draw by FC Samartex, despite dominating much of the contest. Head coach Ibrahim Tanko expects a more clinical performance this time as his side seek to return to winning ways.
"Before the start of the season, I was convinced we were not going to meet any weak team. All the teams that are competing are very good. The last game was not very good for us because we dropped two points, but in terms of performance and the chances we created, I believe this weekend will be better," Tanko said.
Swedru All Blacks, on the other hand, travel to Tarkwa buoyed by their recent victory over Basake Holy Stars, which ended a three-game losing run. With renewed confidence, the visitors will aim to upset the league leaders and build momentum.
Medeama have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign, winning four of their six matches, drawing one, and losing one, with 11 goals scored and four conceded. All Blacks, meanwhile, have two wins and four defeats, scoring and conceding seven goals apiece.
This will be the first-ever league meeting between the two sides. While Medeama are clear favourites, All Blacks’ resurgence ensures that Sunday’s clash could be more competitive than expected.
