The Black Queens of Ghana are a step closer to qualifying for the 2026 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) after brushing aside Egypt with a 3-0 victory on Thursday afternoon.
The two national teams locked horns today in Ismaila in the first leg of their crucial tie in the qualifiers.
Ghana delivered a dominant performance from start to finish, overwhelming the Egyptians with their attacking prowess and solid defensive organisation.
Doris Boaduwaa opened the scoring in the 42nd minute to give the Queens a deserved lead heading into halftime.
In the second half, Ghana continued to control proceedings, and their persistence paid off when Mary Amponsah doubled the advantage in the 85th minute. Grace Asantewaa sealed the emphatic win in the 90th minute, putting Ghana firmly in the driving seat ahead of the return leg.
With this result, the Black Queens are now edging closer to WAFCON qualification and will head into the next match with confidence and a strong advantage.
