Asante Kotoko have promised their players a special qualification package should they eliminate Moroccan giants Wydad Athletic Club in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff clash on Friday in Casablanca.
The Porcupine Warriors lost the first leg 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium and will need a strong performance in the return leg to overturn the deficit and secure a place in the group stage of the competition.
Kotoko’s campaign has so far seen them edge past Nigeria’s Kwara United in the previous round, recording victories both home and away to progress. However, they face a more difficult task in Morocco without first-choice goalkeeper Mohammed Camara, who is suspended after being sent off in the first leg.
Despite the setback, the club’s hierarchy remains optimistic, pledging enticing incentives to motivate the players for the decisive encounter.
"Just as we did for the players after they beat Kwara United, there’s a special qualification package in store for them, not only from the club but also from individual supporters, if they manage to qualify over Wydad in Morocco," Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, told Akoma FM.
Kotoko will rely on the leadership of key players like Albert Amoah to inspire the team to a famous result in Casablanca and reach the group stage for the first time in six years.
