
England-born Ghanaian forward Tyrique George climbed off the Chelsea bench on Wednesday night to score in the team’s 5-1 victory over Ajax in the UEFA Champions League.
In the game played at Stamford Bridge, Ajax suffered a setback 17 minutes into the contest, when referee Felix Zwayer sent off Kenneth Taylor with a red card following a reckless foul.
A minute later, Chelsea enjoyed the full benefit of having a numerical advantage when striker Marc Guiu equalised to give the Blues the lead after he was set up by Wesley Fofana
From then on, Chelsea dominated the contest and scored the goals to show their superiority.
Goals from Moises Caicedo, Enzo Fernández, and Estêvão meant that the English side led 4-1 at halftime.
Three minutes into the second half, Tyrique George, who replaced Marc Guiu at the break, sealed the emphatic win for Chelsea, scoring the fifth for his side with a stunning strike from the edge of the Ajax box.
The only goal for the visitors on the night was scored by experienced Dutch forward Wout Weghorst from the penalty spot in the 33rd minute.
