Moroccan international Hakim Ziyech is on the verge of completing a move to his homeland, with a transfer to Wydad Casablanca nearing completion.
The deal is expected to be finalised soon, marking a potential homecoming for one of Morocco’s most celebrated players.
Ziyech, 31, is currently a free agent after leaving Turkish side Galatasaray, where he endured an injury-hit spell.
Despite attracting interest from clubs in Europe and the Middle East, the former Chelsea and Ajax star has chosen to prioritise a move to one of Morocco’s biggest and most successful clubs.
Born in the Netherlands to Moroccan parents, Ziyech rose to prominence at Ajax, where his flair, creativity, and trademark left-footed precision made him one of Europe’s most exciting playmakers.
His impressive performances earned him a transfer to Chelsea in 2020, where he won the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, and FIFA Club World Cup.
A move to Wydad Casablanca would bring Ziyech’s career full circle as he prepares to reignite his form on home soil.
The Moroccan giants, meanwhile, are gearing up to face Ghana’s Asante Kotoko in the CAF Confederation Cup on Friday â a clash that could coincide with Ziyech’s return.
