Coventry City triumphed over Portsmouth in a crucial Championship clash on Tuesday night, with Ghana international Brandon Thomas-Asante crediting the team’s resilience for their win at the Fratton Park.
The Black Stars forward played full throttle of the match, contributing to his outfit 2-1 away win over Portsmouth in the week 11 clash of the Championship. The former West Bromwich Albion star scored in each half of the match to secure all three points for the visitors.
However, Thomas-Asante, whose contributions proved instrumental in the high-stake clash has hailed the team’s resilience for the win.
“I’m really happy” he said after inspiring his outfit to a crucial away win over Hull City. “Playing at MKM Stadium is never easy. Obviously, we’ve got the memories from our last meeting, and we knew it was going to be difficult. We knew one goal lead won’t decide the game per what we experienced last season. So we had to be resilient throughout the game this time” he said.
Thomas-Asante opened the floodgate for the visitors in the 30th minute after being set up by Ellis Simms before sealing victory in the 56th-minutes.
Portsmouth netted deep into stoppage time through Makenzie Kirk, bit it was not enough to prevent them from a defeat on home turf.
Thomas-Asante, who has been in a blistering form this season has racked up eight goals and provided three assists from 11 appearances in the Championship.
